LivDao is an online platform for the buying and selling of pre-owned furniture. It focuses on affordability and sustainability required a design that emphasized user-friendliness and community building. It is simple for users to discover and purchase gently-used furnishings while also fostering a sense of eco-consciousness.

WHAT'S THE CONTEXT?
LivDao is an early-stage startup based in New York, NY. Furniture plays a crucial role in creating a comfortable home. This is especially true for international students who may face challenges such as unfamiliar surroundings and limited transportation options. LivDao aims to alleviate these difficulties by offering a comprehensive solution, including access to used furniture information and convenient home delivery services. Additionally, when international students are graduating, moving to another city, or returning home, they may struggle with disposing of their furniture. In densely populated cities with strict regulations, LivDao steps in to provide furniture removal and thorough cleaning services, benefiting not only international students but also reducing the carbon footprint and improving the environment.
THE CHALLENGE
Based on feedback from users, the marketing team, and the design team, the initial LivDao website failed to convey insightful information with effective visual language. The challenge was to redesign the website and user experience flow and improve user engagement on an existing website. I am  aiming to:
+ Add new furniture removal service and furniture rental service features.
+ Understand the needs, preferences, and behavior of the target audience for an effective user experience.
+ Balance the design elements that make a website visually appealing and user-friendly.
+ Work within a limited budget and resources.
WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS?
By collecting users' online reviews and feedback, we found the issue below needs to be resolved on our platform:
For users:
+ Cannot get the information for the product features efficiently. The existing website does not provide enough information for the user to understand the product features at a glance.
For the designer:
Unattractive UI because of empty data situation. The existing website suffered from a lack of visual appeal and missing key elements such as a navigation menu and rental information on the furniture page.
Lack of guidance for users to register services and interact with the website. The existing website lacked guidance for users to effectively register for removal services, and there was limited content for users to interact with.
THE GOALS
User Growth
As a startup, attracting new users is crucial to LivDao's success. The redesigned website will serve as an effective tool for promoting user growth and showcasing the strengths of our platform.
User Engagement 
The redesign efforts are centered around improving the user experience and increasing engagement on the website. By reducing the bounce rate and encouraging users to interact and explore our platform, LivDao aim to enhance the overall user experience.

Responsive Design
The upcoming website will be constructed utilizing Shopify, a platform renowned for its diverse collection of responsive themes. These themes are specifically optimized to provide optimal viewing experience on all layouts and screen resolutions, ensuring seamless responsive design. Therefore, the design approach will be simple, utilizing a static layout with a fixed width of 1200 pixels for a consistent user experience.
UX Metrics
To measure the success of redesign, several metrics are defined to measure whether the goals are achieved: 
+ Sign-Up Rate  We track the rate of new users signing up for our platform to gauge the effectiveness of our sign-up flow.
+ New User Acquisition  We measure the number of new users joining LivDao each week to understand the reach of our platform.
+ Average Session Duration  This metric measures the average amount of time users spend on our pages, providing insight into user engagement and the effectiveness of our content and design.
OUTCOME
One month after the launch of the new homepage, LivDao checked the metrics defined at the beginning of the project. There is a significant increase in the user engagement metrics, and user growth metrics.
FUTURE PLAN
+ Responsive Design Optimization  LivDao is working to enhance the responsive design of the website, ensuring users with devices of all screen sizes have a seamless navigation experience.
+ User Testimonials  In the next phase of development, LivDao will be adding a user testimonials section to provide new users with valuable insight and information about the platform.
+ Function Updates  As LivDao continues to grow and add new features, it is important that the website reflects the most recent updates. LivDao is committed to keeping the website updated and relevant as new features roll out, ensuring users stay informed and engaged.
